Rennie Welch expand tax department
The partners in Rennie Welch LLP, accountants in Kelso, are pleased to announce that the firm has recently been joined by tax specialist Mark Thompson, to further strengthen the practice.
Mark is a prize winning Chartered Tax Adviser with extensive tax experience and has joined the firm from PricewaterhouseCoopers in Newcastle, where he was manager in the Entrepreneurial and Private Clients team, providing tax advice to owner managed businesses and high net worth individuals. Mark’s areas of specialism range from advising businesses on structuring and the reduction of tax liabilities, to mitigating Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax liabilities for individuals, including using trusts. Mark has also previously worked in tax practice in Berwick, advising individuals and local businesses, including many in the agricultural sector, on a wide range of tax and accountancy issues.
On joining the firm, Mark said “I am delighted to be joining Rennie Welch. I have been thoroughly impressed by the staff, client base and infrastructure of what I consider to be a particularly progressive accountancy and tax practice. The existing tax team has great capabilities and I am looking forward to helping build the business, expanding the tax service and contributing to the future success of the practice.”
Rennie Welch can now boast a dedicated tax department numbering nine which, also following the recent exam success of Mairi Drummond, includes four Chartered Tax Advisers, making it one of the largest and strongest tax departments in the Borders and surrounding area. Alongside accountancy services, the firm offer a comprehensive range of tax services and solutions, including compliance for business and personal taxes, tax planning advice and dealing with tax investigations.
