Experienced Senior – Bookkeeping Group

We are seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our growing accountancy practice.  The position will be based in our Berwick office. This is a key role focused on the accurate processing and reconciliation of client financial data, as well as the delivery of clear, insightful management & financial reports.  Work will include managing your own portfolio of clients as well as working with the Group Team Leaders to train and assist junior staff, alongside dealing directly with a wide range of clients on accounting software installations and subsequent support. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate with clients in a professional, courteous, and timely manner, ensuring queries are resolved efficiently.
  • Process monthly and quarterly financial data in line with HMRC requirements including meeting new MTD reporting obligations.
  • Set up accounting software and integrated applications for clients and provide training to both clients and internal staff.
  • Deliver helpful, practical training on Xero and QuickBooks.
  • Manage your own workload, meeting internal targets and external deadlines.
  • Produce meaningful reports and insights for clients, highlighting key business performance trends and variances.
  • Produce accurate financial reports for our internal Accounts and Tax teams.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • A proactive, enthusiastic approach with a genuine passion for delivering outstanding client service.
  • Proven experience using Xero and QuickBooks accounting software.
  • Strong experience preparing and submitting VAT returns and maintaining client records through to the management & financial accounts stages.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients while maintaining a clear understanding of their operations and recent activity.
  • Solid numerical ability and excellent communication skills, whether communicating with clients via phone, Microsoft Teams, or email.
  • A strong team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and supports colleagues to meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving environment and open to change.
