Mark is the firm's tax partner having joined us in 2008 from a 'Big 4' accountancy firm in Newcastle. He had previously worked in tax practice locally, advising individuals and local businesses, including many in the agricultural sector, on a wide range of tax and accountancy issues.
Mark qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2004, winning the Gilbert Burr prize which is awarded to the candidate achieving the highest marks in the tax advisory paper relating to owner managed businesses. He has also been a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians since 2001.
Having specialised in tax for over two decades, Mark has wide experience in providing tax advice to owner managed businesses and high net worth individuals. He also deals with associated accounting and tax compliance matters, including tax investigations. Areas of specialism include advising entrepreneurial and high growth companies on funding and tax incentives, dealing with the tax issues faced by those involved with professional practices, and capital taxes and succession strategies for the agricultural sector and other high net worth individuals.
